Dr. Henry E. Perrine Academy of the Arts

Dismissal Procedures

Monday – Friday

  • Kindergarten & 1st graders can be picked up in the front by their designated area
  • 2nd & 3rd graders will be in the front of school
  • 4th & 5th graders can be picked up behind the bus lane

If you have children in different grade levels, the older child is responsible to pick up the youngest child and you can let the individual teachers know where they will be picked up. They can be picked up in either location. Please make sure to have a sign on your dashboard that clearly states the name of the child that you are picking up. Walkers can be picked up in the front of the school. Parents who choose to park and walk their child to school can use the front entrance. Parents may park in the tennis court area.

Students should go straight home when dismissed from school.  Students are not to remain on school campus unless they are participating in after-school activities for which they have special permission from parent, teacher and/or administrator.

PLEASE PLAN TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD PROMPTLY AT DISMISSAL IN THE DESIGNATED PICK UP LANES.  THE STAFF PARKING LOT IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR DROP OFF OR PICK UP.  THERE IS NO SUPERVISION FOR STUDENTS AFTER THEY ARE DISMISSED FROM SCHOOL.

If a student is not picked up promptly at 1:50 p.m. or 3:05 p.m dismissal time, the student should be enrolled in the After School Care Program. If the student is not picked up promptly after school, a referral will be made to appropriate outside agencies, which will include Miami-Dade School Police, Miami-Dade Police Department, and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) for further action.  Such actions is to ensure the safety of the student.

Early Dismissal - Board Rule 6Gx13-5A-1.041

The early release of students causes disruption to the academic performance of all students and may create safety and security concerns.  No students shall be released within the final 30 minutes of the school day unless authorized by the principal or principal’s designee (i.e., emergency, sickness).
